Welcome to Social Stars Learning Center! We are a preschool program designed to focus on social and emotion skills within the classroom setting. Our mission is to help each child learn the skills necessary to be successful and to provide early mental health intervention services. We have a strong group of Teachers and a Treatment Team that believes in the importance of having a caring, compassionate, and safe environment for your child to learn the skills they may need before starting kindergarten.
How to Enroll
An intake will need to be scheduled at the Andover, Augusta, or El Dorado clinic.
During the intake, your therapist and you will discuss the Social Stars program and if it would be a therapeutic fit for your child.
Your child’s therapist will discuss with you if your child would be a good fit for the Social Stars program. If referred , you will be contacted by a Social Stars Director or Care Coordinator for an initial parent meeting. During this meeting we will discuss the program in detail and an initial assessment will be completed that will determine if the child is cognitively, academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally competent for the program. Paperwork will also be completed for the child’s chart this will include reviewing parent handbook, KDHE packet and SCMHCC required paperwork.
At this meeting you will need
A copy of your child’s current Health Physical will be
Up to date shot records.
(Please refer to your PCP to ensure your child is up to date on all immunizations.)
Any paper work from community partners (Early childhood, Rainbows, Psychological testing, CDDO, etc.)
Once all paperwork is complete you will discuss with the Director and Care Coordinator a start date and schedule a Individualized Service Plan meeting to develop your child’s treatment plan goals with your child’s treatment team (Therapist, Director, Care Coordinator, Teacher Etc..) 2 weeks from the start date.
* Your child’s treatment team will meet at least every 90 days to asses their current strengths and needs and progress towards treatment plan goals. If at any point your child is struggling within the program, a treatment plan review can be scheduled to determine more appropriate services for your child.
